Many have thought it impossible to take CNA classes without having set foot in a classroom. In fact, you can take the classroom portion and do CNA online classes from the comfort of your own home. The practical skills will need to be demonstrated in person, however, and you will need to do a clinical practice in a hospital, nursing home or medical office setting. You can begin your studies in this career by taking the book learning portion to be a CNA online.

For some this may be the most practical solution to learning a new career. You can easily continue to work at your full time job and care for your family while working at your studies at your own pace in your free time. Evenings and weekends can be dedicated to studying CNA online. You do not need to attend a classroom every day at a set time. Working in your own time will help you to juggle the other responsibilities in your day to day life.

Costs of CNA online programs are not that expensive. For a few hundred dollars, you can enroll today and get started on your new career. Lessons are divided into different categories of study within the program. At the end of each lesson, you will be able to take an online test to show that you have understood the material that has been presented. Once you pass the lesson test, you can go on to the next lesson. Again, working at your own pace until you complete all the required lessons. At the end of the program, you will be given an exam which you will complete online. After you are finished the exam, and passed (!), you will then be guided towards completing the practical portion of the course.

When you are ready for the next stage, you will find that most CNA online schools will aid you in finding a placement from which you can do the clinical portion of the program. The clinical portion of the program will have a requirement of 'x' number of hours. This all depends on the geographical location of the school you are attending. You will need to have your supervisor sign off that you have completed the required number of practical training hours.

Once proof of completion has been given to the CNA online program, then you will be given your certificate!  Next up is to write an exam to pass the state/provincial CNA requirements.  This will give you a board certified designation so that you will be more employable. Having this certificate will give you automatic respect in your field and it will also show others that you have completed your studies satisfactorily and are a suitable candidate for working as a CNA.

At this point, with a CNA certificate under your belt, it will not make a difference where you have studied, whether it be in a CNA online course or in a traditional classroom setting.  If you can show that you have received your certificate and are capable of practicing as a CNA, you will be an asset to any organization.

CNAs can find work in hospitals, medical offices and nursing homes.  As well, there may be work available to you if you can travel to individuals homes.  Many invalids are housebound and rely on CNAs to take care of them each day.  As our population ages and more and more medical discoveries are found, we end up with a longer life span... and thus more elderly.  A CNA career is not going anywhere.  It is a wise investment to make for the little amount of money required for tuition.  The work as a CNA is difficult, but the rewards are enormous!
